Lori Crosthwait

Founder & Movement Educator

Since 2009, I’ve applied my strengths in critical thinking, problem solving, communication and artistic expression to facilitating mindful and ambitious movement research lessons for my students. Pilates Homeroom embodies my passion for overlapping academic, artistic, and athletic pursuits.

I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. For college, I moved to Tucson, Arizona to complete my BFA in Dance. Professional dance ambitions led me to Chicago and New York, where I spent the first part of my Pilates teaching career working in both small studios and large gyms. I landed in New Orleans in 2015. After four years teaching and eventually managing a boutique Pilates studio, I launched my own business from my living room in 2019.

I am delighted to offer a unique space to the Pilates community in New Orleans. Inspired by the energy inside Art Egg Studios, we get to embrace creativity and improvisation as mainstays of our practice. I hope for everyone who wants to practice here, to feel welcome to begin.

I consider myself a partner in your movement research. I prepare lessons for you based on what you’re most curious to explore, and I believe you are the expert about your body. I’m here to help show you what you already know but have lost track of or haven’t practiced often. Together, we can design a meaningful practice that you can stick with for a long, long time to come.
